Discovery of the arms of the Rhône by packraft

Details of the packraft adventure>

Day 1: Discovery of Chanaz and Navigation on the Rhône

Meet at 9am in Chanaz, a charming Savoie village known as the “Little Venice of Savoie.” We will start the day with a welcoming coffee in this picturesque setting, the perfect opportunity to get to know each other and introduce the itinerary.

We will then take possession of our packrafts and prepare our bags for the day. Soon after, we will leave Chanaz and glide silently into the secluded arms of the Rhône, far from prying eyes and the hustle and bustle. After several kilometers of peaceful navigation, we will reach an exit point where we will fold up our boats.

With the packraft on our backs, we will embark on a 4.5 km hike through nature. In the late afternoon, we will reach our campsite by the Rhône for a convivial evening under the stars.

Day 2: Immersion in the Wild Rhône

The day begins with a short minibus transfer to the wilder section of the Rhône, bypassing the canalized part. Upon reaching the Massigneu Dam, we will inflate our packrafts and venture into the small arms of the wild Rhône.

Throughout the navigation, we will observe exceptional wildlife: beavers, kingfishers, swans, herons, cormorants, and possibly even some raptors. We will take a lunch break on a deserted beach, far from human presence, to enjoy a peaceful moment in nature.

In the late afternoon, we will reach our exit point where a vehicle will be waiting for us. A shuttle will bring us back to Chanaz, concluding this adventure around 5 – 5:30 pm, with unforgettable memories.

If the weather conditions are problematic along the route, an alternative itinerary may be arranged by the guide to avoid putting the group in danger.
